Production has begun on the star-studded TV series "The Eight", Turki Al-Sheikh, head of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority announced on Tuesday.
The series stars Asser Yassin, Khaled El Sawy, Hesham Selim, Ghada Adel, Mahmoud Al Bezzawy, Reem Moustafa, Mahmoud Alaa, Mondher Rayahneh, Mustafa Al-Banna, Waddah Swar, and Khalid Saqr.
"The Eight" is written by Al-Sheikh and directed by Ahmed Medhat.

In a lengthy Instagram post, Al Sheikh congratulated the cast of "The Eight" and noted that the idea of the series began when he finished writing its story and decided to adapted it into a series.
The counselor pointed out that he chose Medhat, after he saw several of his works, noting that he met with him in the USA to discuss how to bring the production into the light.
Al Sheikh began to choose the elements and the stars. He added that interior designer Mohamed Attia, and fashion designer Mona Al-Tunisi, director of PhotographyTómas Örn Tómasson, and sound engineer Bill Donnelly, are among the crew.
He added that scriptwriter Amr Samir helped him finish the script and write it in the Egyptian dialect.
Al Sheikh noted that the series will debut on MBC channels and Shahid platform.
