Spotify, the global music and podcast streaming service, has announced a price increase for its premium subscriptions, effective February 2026.
The adjustment will see all subscription tiers, including Individual, Student, Duo, and Family plans, rise from $1 to $2.
According to technology news outlet Engadget, subscribers in the United States, Estonia, and Latvia will soon receive emails detailing the new pricing.
Spotify said the move is intended to “reflect the value Spotify provides,” “continue offering the best possible experience,” and “support artists.”
New Subscription Prices:
Individual: $13/month (up from $12)
Student: $7/month (up from $6)
Duo: $19/month (up from $17)
Family: $22/month (up from $20)
Spotify emphasized that the increase will help maintain funding for music content while continuing to provide enhanced services for users worldwide.
Despite the hike, the company highlighted that it paid $10 billion to rights holders in 2024.
Nevertheless, some Grammy-nominated songwriters have protested, citing declining earnings from plays on the platform and even boycotting the awards ceremony in response.
