Sports Min.: Salah Promised Us World Cup Qualification

Egyptian Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi has revealed that Mohamed Salah pledged to earn qualification for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

Egypt earned a vital 1-0 victory over Senegal at the Cairo International Stadium in the first leg of the playoffs round of the African World Cup qualifiers on Friday.

The Pharaohs managed to score early in the game, thanks to an own goal in the fourth minute after the ball came off the bar and the rebound hit Saliou Ciss before rolling into his own net.

Speaking about the encounter, Sports Minister Ashraf Sobhi praised Senegal and expressed his optimism in Egypt heading into the second leg.

“Senegal are a strong team and I believe we got a positive result in the first leg,” Sobhi told Sada El-Balad TV channel. “Going into the second leg with a 1-0 lead gives us a huge advantage.

“But Egypt are also strong as well and recent performances reflect that this group of players have our full support.”
