The Administrative Sports Court in Spain has suspended Pedro Rocha, President of the Spanish Football Federation, for two years, just days after Spain's national team secured the Euro 2024 title.
A spokesperson for the court confirmed the ruling on Wednesday, noting that it is not yet binding and can be appealed, which Rocha intends to do.
Media reports indicate that the court sanctioned Rocha for dismissing a federation official and fined him €33,000 for additional violations.
At the time of the dismissal, Rocha was serving as the head of the interim committee managing the federation, following the resignation of Luis Rubiales.
Rubiales resigned last September after controversially kissing Spain's women's national team player Jenni Hermoso following their World Cup victory.
