Spain to Send Heavy Weapons to Ukraine

The El Pais newspaper reported that Spain is prepared to send heavy weapons to Ukraine, including anti-aircraft missiles and tanks.

According to the newspaper, Spain is ready to make a “paradigm shift” in its military support for Kyiv.

The paper pointed out that Madrid had previously supplied Ukraine with ammunition, personal protective equipment, and light weapons, but is now prepared to move to provide heavy weapons.

The paper said Spain also offered Ukraine the German A4 Leopard tank.

El Pais mentioned that the Spanish Defense Ministry is already finishing the delivery of Shorad Aspide short-range anti-aircraft missiles to Kyiv.

It is reported that in April, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez said during a press conference in Ukraine that he had sent 200 tons of ammunition, military equipment, and vehicles to Ukraine.

Western countries had begun to supply Ukraine with a large number of weapons even before the beginning of the Russian special operation, including anti-tank missiles.

Recently, heavy equipment has also been supplied, particularly tanks, howitzers, and MLRS.
