Southern Lebanon Struggles to Rebuild Amid Ongoing Israeli Aggression

Residents of southern Lebanon continue to endure destruction and uncertainty one year after Israel expanded its military operations along the border. Families returning to towns such as Khiam and Nabatieh find their homes reduced to rubble, their streets abandoned, and the constant buzz of Israeli drones overhead, Xinhua reported.

Lebanese officials report more than 4,500 violations since last year’s ceasefire, while over 280 people have been killed in renewed strikes. Many villages remain empty as Israel maintains a de facto buffer zone, preventing thousands from returning.

Local voices describe daily life as a struggle for survival. “Here, war is not just explosions—it’s the silence, the fear, and the loss of everything we worked for,” said one displaced resident.

Analysts warn that the fragile truce has failed to bring security, with Israel maintaining positions on Lebanese territory. For communities in the south, the conflict has erased homes, livelihoods, and futures, leaving them to rebuild under the shadow of war.
