South Korean President Lee Jae-myung is visiting Japan on Tuesday for high-level talks with Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, marking a key diplomatic engagement following his recent visit to China.

The two leaders are set to meet in Nara, western Japan, the home region of Prime Minister Takaichi, where discussions will focus on regional security, bilateral relations and broader global issues. The talks come amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in East Asia and renewed efforts to strengthen cooperation between Tokyo and Seoul.

This is President Lee’s second visit to Japan since taking office. He previously held talks with former prime minister Shigeru Ishiba, whom Takaichi succeeded.

The visit underscores both countries’ interest in maintaining dialogue and coordination on shared challenges, including regional stability, economic cooperation and international diplomacy, as South Korea and Japan seek to manage historical sensitivities while advancing strategic partnerships.
