South Korean President Moon Jae-in and his accompanying delegation paid a visit to the third subway line, which began by taking one of the third subway vehicles heading to a major metro workshop from Adly Mansour Central Interchange Station.

Jae-in was received by Kamel Al-Wazir, the Minister of Transport, according to the ministry's statement issued on Friday.

Al-Wazir said that the historic visit marks the joint cooperation and distinguished relations that link the political leadership in the two countries and peoples.

During the train ride, the South Korean president listened to a brief explanation of the third Metro line project, which links east and west Greater Cairo, extending 41.2 km long and numbering 34 stations.

A brief explanation was also presented on the workshop’s buildings, which is considered the largest workshop in the Middle East, implemented on 65 feddans and contains 32 buildings. The workshop provides vehicle maintenance and servicing for the third line Metro, in addition to its ability to store trains with a capacity of 30 trains and a place to store spare parts for vehicles.

Finally, the South Korean President watched a presentation on the joint cooperation between Egypt and South Korea to localize the railway industry in Egypt through supplying 40 metro trains (320 vehicles) for the second and third lines, in cooperation with the National Egyptian Railway Industries Company (NERIC).
