South Korean Ambassador to Egypt Kim Young-hyun celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Egypt and South Korea, describing it as a significant achievement in the two countries' shared history.
At a press conference held at the Korean Embassy in Cairo, the ambassador said that over the past 30 years, Korea and Egypt have built a solid partnership based on mutual respect, and that relations have grown stronger and more diverse in all fields, including politics, economics, defense, culture, and more.
The ambassador said that bilateral trade has increased fivefold, reaching $3.16 billion in 2022, and Korea has invested $1 billion, ranking it the 16th largest investor in Egypt.
He added that Korean companies produce advanced products in Egypt and export them under the slogan "Made in Egypt." Energy companies are also participating in the construction of Egypt's first nuclear power plant in Dabaa.
He pointed out that the number of Korean tourists increased tenfold, reaching 42,177 tourists last year.
