The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the Gulf region, where maritime security has been repeatedly disrupted in recent years.
Furthermore, the US Central Command said the aircraft carrier USS George H.W. Bush transited the Arabian Sea as part of ongoing naval operations in the region.
Washington described the activity as part of maritime security operations, without providing further details.
