Korean Air, South Korea's leading airline, announced plans to finalize a deal worth $13.7 billion with Airbus to purchase 33 units of its latest A350 series aircraft.
The company stated that the deal includes 27 aircraft of the A350-1000 model and six aircraft of the smaller A350-900 model to support its fleet operations as older aircraft are phased out of service, according to the South Korean news agency Yonhap on Friday.
The A350-1000 aircraft is the largest in the A350 series, accommodating up to 410 passengers.
It utilizes advanced composite materials to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions by up to 25% compared to similar previous-generation models.
