South Korea imported no crude oil from Iran in February, according to preliminary data released by the Korea Customs Service.
The data showed that South Korea did not purchase any Iranian crude during the month, the same situation recorded in February last year.
Overall, the world’s fifth-largest crude oil buyer imported about 11.1 million tons of oil in February, up from 10.1 million tons during the same month a year earlier.
Final figures on the country’s crude imports are expected later this month from the Korea National Oil Corporation, whose statistics are widely regarded as the benchmark for South Korea’s oil import data.
