Patrice Mozebi, a South African billionaire,  became president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), by acclamation, after the withdrawal of all rivals before the elections to the presidential seat,   scheduled to take place on  March 12th in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.

Today, Monday, the CAS Court of Arbitration for Sport issued its decision that Ahmed Ahmed, the former president of CAF, was suspended for five years by the International Federation.

Today, CAS reduced Ahmed Ahmed's sentence, of which he served two months from November 19, 2020, to January 29, 2021, from five years to two years, which means that he will not run in the elections scheduled for next Friday.

With the issuance of today's decision, Patrice Mozebi will be the next president of "CAF" by acclamation, after the withdrawal of Jacob Anoma, Augustine Senghor, and Ahmed Ould Yahya in favor of the South African businessman.

Mutsepi was born on January 28, 1962.

He is a South African businessman and a tycoon of the African mining industry, and CEO of African Rainbow Minerals, which has interests in gold, ferrous metals, base metals, and platinum.

He graduated from the University of Swaziland with a Bachelor of Arts degree, a law degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, and majored in mining and business law.

He entered the sports field in 2003 when he bought shares of Mamelodi Sundowns, South Africa.

The club rose during the era of Patrice Mozebi, especially during the current decade of the twenty-first century, and achieved many local titles in addition to winning the African Champions League title in 2016 for the first and only time in its history, to participate in the Club World Cup.

On Saturday, the South African Football Association announced that Patrice Mozebi, owner of the South African Sun Downs Club, would assume the presidency of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) by acclamation.
