The South African government welcomed the temporary measures imposed by the International Court of Justice on Israel, considering it a decisive victory for the rule of law and an important turning point in the search for justice for the Palestinian people, according to Cairo News Channel.

South African Foreign Minister Naledi Pandor said that the decision of the International Court of Justice forces UN and international bodies to take the necessary measures to protect the lives of Palestinians, noting that the orders of the International Court of Justice cannot succeed without a ceasefire.

Naledi Pandor added: “We did what was necessary to protect the lives of thousands of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, and we call on them not to lose hope.”

The South African Foreign Minister stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and the delivery of humanitarian aid to reduce the harm to civilians.

She explained that Hamas must release the Israeli detainees, noting that South Africa is currently holding discussions with its partners regarding the idea of a two-state solution, establishing a Palestinian state, and ending the conflict.
