Palestinian Factions Dialogue in Cairo Extended

On Tuesday, the Palestinian factions will resume their dialogue sessions at the Egyptian intelligence headquarters in Cairo. Sources suggested extending the dialogue for an additional day, to end tomorrow, Wednesday, "to give an opportunity to agree on all points of disagreement between the factions."

The Palestinian delegates aim to create a roadmap for the implementation of the upcoming Palestinian elections in their three stages.

Sources told "Ma'an", a Palestinian news agency, from Cairo that a positive and good atmosphere prevailed during the three sessions that were held on the first day.

The Palestinian dialogue started with a speech delivered by the head of the Egyptian General Intelligence, Maj. Gen. Abbas Kamel, and the speeches of the heads of the Palestinian factions.

The sources affirmed that the Palestinians agreed to close the political detention file in the West Bank and Gaza Strip and to give a wide area of ​​freedom."

On the second day, the Palestinian factions will discuss the file of the Constitutional Court and the election courts, in addition to the file of security oversight of the election boxes.

A Palestinian leader, participating in the Palestinian factions' dialogue in the Egyptian capital, revealed some of the details of the course of the dialogue that took place during yesterday's sessions.

The leader, who preferred not to be named, stated that "the meetings of the first day of the national dialogue sessions ended Monday evening, and the opening session was chaired by the head of the Egyptian General Intelligence Service (EGIS), Maj. Gen Abbas Kamel."

The delegations were comfortable in presenting their different views," adding: "The general impression this time is completely different."

Among the topics raised on Monday, he mentioned that "the issue of the Rafah land crossing as     there was great urgency to open that crossing and end the problem of the stranded Palestinians.
