Chinese President Xi Jinping plans to visit Russian capital, Moscow, to meet his counterpart, Vladimir Putin, next week, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry did not comment on the circulating news, and the Kremlin also declined to comment.
No other details were immediately available.
Last Friday, Xi won an unprecedented third term presidency in the country.
Russian President Vladimir Putin was among the first to congratulate the Chinese president.
In a cable to Xi, Putin said he was sure the two leaders could advance their cooperation on the most important regional and international issues.
"I am confident that, working together, we will ensure the expansion of fruitful Russian-Chinese cooperation in various fields," Putin told Xi.
