Somalia Welcomes Joint Statement Rejecting Israeli Diplomatic Move in "Somaliland"

​The Somali Ambassador to the Arab League, Ali Abdi Awari, has welcomed a joint statement issued by several foreign ministers rejecting Israel's announcement regarding the appointment of a diplomatic envoy to the region known as "Somaliland."

​Moreover, The Somali Ambassador emphasized that this step represents a flagrant violation of Somalia’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

He also stressed that the statement reflects a unified stance in support of international legitimacy and respect for international law, expressind Mogadishu's appreciation for these supportive positions that strengthen collective unity.

Furthermore, the Somali Ambassador underscored the importance of adhering to the United Nations Charter and the principles of the African Union, while rejecting any unilateral actions that infringe upon the sovereignty of nations.

​In addition, Awari praised the positions of the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which have affirmed their full support for Somalia's unity and sovereignty.

He also noted that such stances enhance security and stability within the Horn of Africa region.
