Somali President Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni in Kampala to discuss the security situation in the Horn of Africa, underscoring the urgent need to preserve peace and stability in the region.
Both leaders praised the strong bilateral relations and close cooperation between Somalia and Uganda. They also welcomed the launch of the new AUSSOM mission in Somalia, highlighting the importance of accelerating international support to implement Somalia’s national security development plan and to enhance the capabilities of the Somali National Army.
The talks also touched on the recently signed defense cooperation agreement between the two countries. President Mohamud and President Museveni instructed the relevant institutions to expedite its implementation, according to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA).
