Somali State Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ali Mohamed Omar, affirmed his country's commitment to a Somali-led transition process that will strengthen national institutions and consolidate progress in peace and state-building.
This came during a meeting between the State Minister and a delegation from the United Nations Transitional Military Mission in Somalia (UNTMIS), headed by its Chargé d'Affaires, Raysdon Zeninga, and including Vikram Parekh. The two sides discussed the transfer of the mission's responsibilities in the country, in light of the evolving political and security landscape,
according to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA) on Tuesday.
The meeting also addressed the evolving political and security situation in Somalia.
Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening ongoing coordination and cooperation to ensure that international support aligns with Somalia's national priorities, contributing to long-term stability and development.
