Six mortar shells were targeting the Somali presidential palace, Villa Somalia, but they appeared to have missed the target and hit neighborhoods instead.
Three people have been confirmed dead in the mortar attack; a girl and a boy were killed in Wardhigley, other one civilian was killed in Boondheere. Moreover, four people were reportedly injured in the attack.
The Somali government has not commented on the mortar attacks that were heard today in most parts of Mogadishu.
No group has claimed any responsibility for the attack. However, Al-Shabaab, a militant group fighting against the Somali government, has previously claimed responsibility for similar attacks.
The attack comes amid rising tensions in the capital in recent days as ex-presidents relocate to areas dominated by their clans.
