At least 8 people were killed, and 7 others were injured as a car bomb exploded on Saturday, at a checkpoint near Somalia's presidential palace.
The Al-Shabaab jihadist group claimed responsibility for the attack.
It is worth mentioning that, for many years, Somalia has been witnessing a bloody conflict between the “Al-Shabab” movement, which adopts the ideology of “Al-Qaeda”, and the forces of the central government in Somalia. The movement aims to control the country and rule it according to its strict interpretation of Islamic law.
The Somali army, along with the forces of Galmudug state, has been conducting military operations against the “Al-Shabab” militia for more than two months.
