Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud expressed his pride in visiting Egypt with his accompanying delegation, expressing his sincere gratitude for the warm reception.
In a joint press conference with his Egyptian counterpart Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Somali President said that Egyptians had sacrificed their lives for the sake of Somalia's independence, praising deep ties between both countries in various fields.
Moreover, Mohamud noted that Egypt has provided all forms of support for Somalia, over the last 30 years, to ensure being on the right path.
On Monday, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi received his Somali counterpart Hassan Sheikh Mahmoud at Ittihadiya Palace, Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady said.
The Somali president was accorded a red-carpet reception upon his arrival at the palace and the national anthems of both countries were played.
The two presidents reviewed the guards of honor.
The Somali president arrived in Cairo on Sunday evening on an official visit to Egypt.
The visit is Mohamud’s seventh foreign trip since he returned to power in May after winning the Horn of African country’s presidential election.
The Somali president returned to Mogadishu on Saturday after completing a two-day visit to Tanzania where he attended the 22nd Ordinary Summit of the East African Community (EAC) Heads of State as a special guest.
