Somali Danab Forces Neutralize 14 Al-Shabab Militants in Lower Juba

The Somali Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday that the elite "Danab" Special Forces, in coordination with Jubaland security forces, conducted a successful military operation against al-Shabab militants in the Lower Juba region.

The joint operation targeted strategic hideouts of the Al-Qaeda-linked group in areas surrounding the city of Jamame. According to an official statement released by the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), 14 terrorists were killed during the encounter, and one additional militant was injured. Several others fled the scene following precise tactical strikes by the special forces.

Commitment to Security The Ministry of Defense emphasized that this mission is part of an ongoing, broader military and security campaign aimed at eradicating extremist elements from the country. The operation was designed to dismantle the operational capabilities of the militants, restore freedom of movement for civilians, and consolidate peace and stability throughout the southern regions.

International Cooperation The statement further highlighted that Somali forces, bolstered by support from international partners, will continue to execute proactive strikes against high-value targets. The government remains committed to its strategy of "total elimination" of security threats to achieve lasting peace across the Horn of Africa nation.
