At least 35 mourners were killed, and 48 were injured as a stampede broke out during  Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani’s funeral ceremonies, according to Iran’s state TV.

Iran's farewell to the general descended into chaos after thousands of people thronged to his home town of Kerman, where he is due to be buried later.

The commander of Iran's Quds Force was killed in a United States US airstrike in Baghdad ordered by President Donald Trump.

It is worth mentioning that, Soleimani’s body was airlifted from Iraq to the southwestern city of Ahvaz.

He survived several assassination attempts by Western, Israeli and Arab agencies over the past two decades.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei declared, on Friday, a three-day mourning period after the killing of Soleimani.

Khamenei stressed that “harsh retaliation is waiting” for the US, adding that Soleimani’s killing will double the motivation of the resistance against the United States and Israel.

Amir Mousavi, director of the center for strategic and international studies in Tehran, and the cultural attaché at the Iranian embassy in Algeria announced that the Iranian regime decided to avenge the blood of Maj. Gen. Qassem Soleimani, after his burial on Tuesday.

“It is the US that initiated such actions by the assassination of Soleimani in Iraq,” he noted, adding that Iran will choose the appropriate deterrence.
