Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) announced, Friday, that some of Russian forces members were wounded after a bomb exploded in the northern countryside of Raqqa.

Some of the Russian forces members were wounded by shrapnel as a result of the bombing, which was claimed by the Guardians of Religion Organization, according to SOHR.

Two men left an explosive device at the Russian base, before detonating it at the base and fleeing immediately, SOHR added.

The explosion hit Tal al-Saman area in the northern countryside of Raqqa, which is controlled by the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF).

It resulted in material damage; however no casualty loss was reported.

Last Wednesday,  ISIS claimed responsibility for the bus attack which took place in Syria, killing about 40 Syrian soldiers and wounding six others, Amaq News Agency reported.

SOHR said 40 soldiers died in the attack, carried out by ISIS, in Deir Ezzor province.

It also mentioned the soldiers were ambushed as they were travelling home for holidays, adding that another two buses, that were part of the convoy, managed to escape.

Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Britain-based Observatory, said the bus was attacked near the village of Shula by extremist fighters; they detonated roadside bombs before opening fire on the soldiers who belonged to the army’s elite 4th pision.
