Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) announced, on Saturday, that a suspected car bomb detonated in Afrin, killing 5 people, including a child and left 15 others wounded.
The blast reportedly occurred in the city center.
Some of the wounded people suffered serious injuries.
The casualty figure is likely to be adjusted in the coming hours. Further details have not been revealed yet.
Afrin, which is controlled by Turkish-backed factions in northwestern Syria, is located in the Aleppo Governorate and is approximately 40 km (25 miles) northwest of Aleppo city.
Last Tuesday, SOHR monitored a violent explosion that hit the city of Tal Abyad, which is under the control of the Turkish forces and the factions loyal to them in the northern countryside of Raqqa, Syria.
The explosion took place in a market near the municipality roundabout within the city, which caused casualties, as three people were killed and wounded seven others were injured, as a preliminary outcome.
No confirmed information was received until now whether the explosion was carried out by a suicide bomber who detonated himself with an explosive belt, or if it was caused by the explosion of an explosive device by a person who was intending to plant it in the area.
Earlier this month, SOHR monitored the killing of a leader in the “First Corps” of the Turkish-backed Syrian National Army, as a result of being shot by unidentified gunmen in the city of Tal Abyad in the northern countryside of Raqqa.
