Minister of Social Solidarity, Nevin Al-Kabbaj, said that the past period has witnessed a significant expansion of cooperation with the European Union in various initiatives in all fields, including the economic empowerment of refugees hosted by Egypt recently  following conflicts in Sudan and Gaza.

This came during her participation in the conference of the European Union FPI project, entitled “Enhancing social cohesion in Egypt through livelihoods and building resilience among refugees, new Sudanese arrivals, and host communities,” which was held at the headquarters of the Arab Academy for Science and Technology in Aswan.

Al-Kabbaj explained the role of the Ministry of Social Solidarity in the social protection of refugees in the post-relief phase, through the civil society organizations and the Red Crescent Society, which includes 32,000 volunteers,  in addition to Blood banks, medical convoys, and psychological and social support.

The Minister of Social Solidarity confirmed that Sudanese women have been used in conflicts and disputes, so after they were received in Egypt, which hosts about 9 million refugees, work is being done to integrate them, rehabilitate them psychologically and socially, and empower them economically in the Egyptian market.

The Minister pointed out that vocational and administrative training, providing financing for small projects, and encouraging the work of joint projects between Egyptians and Sudanese people are the best ways to integrate countries as this helps in development and stability.
