The Slovenian Ambassador to Cairo, Saso Podlesnik, expressed his country’s deep appreciation for the assistance and cooperation of Egyptian authorities, which supported the evacuation of Slovenian citizens from Gulf countries and their safe return home via Egypt.
In a statement to the Middle East News Agency (MENA) on Monday, the Slovenian Ambassador noted that 912 Slovenians and 146 individuals of other European and foreign nationalities have been evacuated in recent days.
Moreover, he explained that nine evacuation flights were operated from Muscat, Dubai, and Riyadh to repatriate Slovenians due to the current situation in the Gulf region.
The Solvenian Ambassador further pointed out that there are still approximately 200 Slovenians abroad, mostly in the Maldives, Sri Lanka, and Thailand.
He added that the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively providing them with the necessary information and guidance regarding their return home.
