South Korea’s Foreign Minister (FM) announced on Monday that he plans to speak with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken soon about the implications of the recent martial law crisis, according to Western media reports.
The announcement follows the resignation of Han Dong-hoon, leader of South Korea’s ruling People Power Party, just two days after parliament passed a motion to impeach President Yoon Suk-yeol over the imposition of martial law, which was short-lived.
At a press conference, Han said, “I resign as leader of the People Power Party,” offering “my sincere apologies to all those who suffered due to martial law.”
