President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi took part today, Tuesday, in a tripartite summit at the Elysee Palace in Paris on developments in the Palestinian territories along with French President Emmanuel Macron and King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, King of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
"Sisi stressed the importance and timing of this summit, which aims to crystallize joint international action by the three countries to stop violence and contain the dangerous escalation in the Palestinian territories," said Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
He pointed out to the exacerbated humanitarian and living situation inside the Gaza Strip, in addition to its negative repercussions on regional peace and security.
Sisi hailed President Macron's initiative to hold this summit in line with regular consultations and coordination between Egypt, Jordan and France regarding regional issues, especially the situation in the Palestinian territories.
He affirmed that the only way to end the vicious circle of chronic violence and the flare-up of the situation in the Palestinian territories is finding a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue that leads to the establishment of a Palestinian state in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions. Hence, the Palestinian people live and enjoy the full legitimate rights of all peoples of the world.
Sisi, also, stressed the seriousness of the repercussions of the attempts to change the demographic situation in the city of Jerusalem, calling for "an immediate cessation," to those attempts.
In this regard, Sisi said that Egypt will continue to do its utmost to stop the current mutual escalation, by intensifying contacts with all concerned international parties, and with the Palestinian and Israeli parties to restore stability and stop bloodshed and human and material losses.
He called for intensifying the efforts of the entire international community to urge Israel to stop the current escalation against the Palestinian factions in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The president announced that Egypt, on its part, allocated $500 million as an initiative for the reconstruction in the Gaza Strip following recent events, noting that specialized Egyptian companies will take part in the work.
The three leaders agreed to focus their efforts and joint political endeavors by conducting contacts and consultations with international partners in order to reach a cessation of violence and military escalation in the Palestinian territories.
