Sisi Urges Gov't to Boost Local Industry Strategy in SCZone's Projects

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi instructed the government to ensure integration of projects in the Suez Canal Economic Zone into the State's strategy for enhancing local industry with priority to be given to the goods and products being imported as per the local market's requirements, according to Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady.

Sisi made the remarks on Tuesday during a meeting with the economic ministerial group in the presence of Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Tarek Amer, Planning Minister Hala el Saeed, International Cooperation Minister Rania el Mashat, Finance Minister Mohamed Maait, Public Business Sector Minister Hisham Tawfiq and Trade and Industry Minister Nevine Gamea.

The meeting touched on framework of the SCZone and the major production activities in its affiliated industrial zones.

The meeting also tackled the latest developments as regards digitizing the State's banking system, as well as the electronic collection system nationwide as part of the digitization strategy.

In this regard, President Sisi ordered the attendees to foster the implementation steps needed to generalize the electronic collection mechanisms to be used as an alternative to the traditional ways of paying for the government services in an effort to cope up with the technological progress.
