Sisi Underlines Importance of Promoting Military Co-op with Greece

On Thursday, Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Greek Minister of Defense Nikos Panagiotopoulos, in the presence of Lieutenant General Mohamed Zaki, Minister of Defense and Military Production, according to the Presidency spokesman, Bassam Radi.

In a statement, the spokesman said that President Sisi, during the meeting, expressed his aspiration to promote military cooperation and joint drills between the two countries, praising in current level of bilateral or tripartite cooperation between Egypt, Greece and Cyprus.

Sisi also hailed the Egyptian, Greek and Cypriot tripartite joint military training (Medusa-10) currently being implemented with the participation of French and Emirati forces.

On Friday, the Greek minister is scheduled to participate in the video conference of the European Defense Agency Conference 2020, and then visit the Patriarchal Monastery of Saint Savvas where he will meet the Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa Theodore II.

On Saturday, December 5, Panagiotopoulos will attend the final phase of the joint interdisciplinary exercise Medusa 10 with the participation of forces from Greece, Egypt, Cyprus, France and the United Arab Emirates.
