President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will take part in the main session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, the Russian presidency announced Wednesday.
Moscow stressed that there are no representatives of countries not friendly to Russia in the forum.
"There will be no official representatives of unfriendly countries in the forum," said the Russian President's Aide for International Affairs, Yuri Ushakov, in response to a question whether it had sent invitations to official representatives from unfriendly countries to attend the event.
He explained that there are 265 foreign companies that have confirmed their participation in the activities of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will be launched in its twenty-fifth edition this week.
Ushakov pointed that Sisi will participate via video link in the main session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Kazakhstan President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
He stressed that Egypt will be the main guest of the forum this year, adding, "A large Egyptian delegation will attend, including official statemen and businessmen, headed by the Minister of Trade and Industry."
Earlier, Russia announced that delegations from 69 countries had requested to participate in the Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum, which will be held from June 15-18.
It is noteworthy that the Petersburg International Economic Forum is an economic event organized annually in Saint Petersburg, Russia since 1997, and has been held under the auspices of Russian President Vladimir Putin, since 2005, with the participation of more than 120 different countries.
