President Abdel Fattah El Sisi is expected to receive Tunisian President Kais Saied in Cairo for a three-day visit, according to a statement issued by the Tunisian Presidency on Thursday.
Saied is paying an "official visit to the Arab Republic of Egypt from 9 to 11 April 2021, at the invitation of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi," according to the Tunisian statement.
The Tunisian president’s visit comes within the framework of linking bridges of communication and consultation, coordination between the leaderships of the two countries, as well as establishing new visions and perceptions that reinforce the distinguished path of cooperation existing between Tunisia and Egypt in a way that meets the legitimate aspirations of the two brotherly peoples for stability and development.
It is noteworthy that the Tunisian president visited Libya in mid-March after the new government took power.
The Tunisian president is the first head of state to visit Libya, after the formation of the new government, and his visit is the first for a Tunisian president to Libya since 2012.
In March, Sisi spoke with Saied over the phone, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
“Sisi checked on the safety of the Tunisian President, following the suspicious letter incident, wishing him good health and wellness,” Rady added.
On his part, Saied expressed his appreciation for the sincere wishes of Sisi, pointing out to the depth and specificity of the Egyptian-Tunisian relations and the bilateral ties of the two peoples.
The two leaders also agreed, during the phone call, to continue intensive consultations and coordination on various Arab and regional issues during the coming period, according to the spokesperson.
