Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will take part in 2020 Africa-France Summit that will be held in Bordeaux, France, from 4 to 6 June, according to the Summit's Secretary General Stéphanie Rivoal.
Rivoal is currently visiting Cairo for talks with a number of ministers and officials.
"Upon President Emmanuel Macron's request, the summit's main topic will be about "sustainable cities," she added in a meeting with a number of journalists resident in Egypt on Thursday.
The upcoming summit will be the 28th edition. The last one was held in Bamako, Mali, on January 12, 2017 under the auspices of then-President François Hollande.
Rivoal lauded the newly-established and ongoing construction projects in Egypt.
Sisi Meets Macron for 3rd time in France
This will be the third official visit by Sisi to France. The first visit was in 2017 when Sisi and Macron held bilateral talks in Paris.
The second visit was in last August as Sisi attended the 2019 G7 Summit in the city of Biarritz.
It's expected that 54 heads of state or government will attend the summit.
About 500 African and French companies will gather at 50.000 m2.
More than 2000 French and international journalists are invited for that event. 15,000 visitors are expected to come, in addition to 15,000 sustainable city stakeholders.
Main Theme of 2020 Africa-France Summit
A variety of political and economic stakeholders from France and Africa will come together to discuss current projects and solutions to build sustainable African cities and regions of the future.
On the agenda of this major political meeting are also sporting and cultural festivities, including Africa-France football match at the Matmut Atlantique Stadium and an urban music concert at the Place des Quinconces.
Announced by French President Emmanuel Macron in Ouagadougou in 2017, the 28th edition of the Africa-France 2020 Summit will be marked by the establishment of a “Cité des Solutions”, conceived as a city with an inclusive approach to 360 degrees. The city is organized around seven thematic neighborhoods namely “access to essential services”, “move in the city”, “feed the cities”, “live in the city”, “develop and beautify the city”, “connect the city “and” fund and structure projects “.
The Summit aims to develop new long-term partnerships, with the shared ambition of building lasting innovative urban ecosystems that stimulate maximum economic activity for minimal investment, while accelerating the establishment of a structure integrating the economic sectors that form sustainability.
