Sisi to hold Talks with Libya's Menfi in Cairo

Chairman of the Presidency Council of Libya, Dr. Mohamed Al-Menfi, arrived in Cairo on Wednesday to hold talks with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, according to official media statement.

The talks will be held on Thursday as Sisi will receive Al-Menfi at Ettahadiya Presidential Palace, in eastern Cairo. It is considered al-Manfi’s second foreign visit after taking office.

Last month, Sisi received Head of the new Libyan government Abdul Hamid Dbeibah. Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and Chief of General Intelligence Abbas Kamel attended the meeting.

The Libyan Premier expressed his honor to meet Sisi, expressing his country's appreciation and pride for the sincere and effective Egyptian efforts in various paths to resolve the Libyan crisis during the past period, which resulted in the convergence of views between Libyans and an end to the state of pision.

He also lauded Egypt's support for Libyan institutions in combating terrorism and extremist groups.

On March 13, Sisi congratulated the President of the Presidency Council of Libya for forming the new Libyan executive authority and for Dbeibah’s government earning the trust of the Libyan House of Representatives.

He stressed the importance of building on these positive steps by pushing forward the course of achieving a political settlement and maintaining the intra-Libyan dialogue in a manner that would restrain external interference.

For his part, Menfi expressed his appreciation for the warm congratulations communicated by Sisi and for the sincere Egyptian efforts to regain security and stability and achieve development in Libya.

Moreover, he stressed the keenness of the new Libyan executive authority to strengthen and cement the brotherly relationship between Egypt and Libya in a manner that guarantees both brotherly peoples’ goodness, growth and prosperity.
