Sisi Thanks Egyptians for Abiding by Curfew Rules

President Abdel Fattah El Sisi thanked his people, the Egyptians, for their commitment and cooperation with the government after abiding by all precautionary measures taken by the government to combat the new coronavirus, known as COVID-19.

“I’m grateful to the great Egyptian people for responding to the taken procedures especially during the curfew time which reflects the Egyptians’ keenness to overcome this crisis,” Sisi posted on his official social media platforms on Thursday. 

Sisi Also expressed his appreciation to all the state apparatuses including the armed forces, the civil police and the health system members “for their sincere efforts at all directions for the interest of Egypt’s people, safety and stability.”

Earlier, the Egyptian president had manifested that “I confirm that we can succeed in our mission by joining everyone led by the great Egyptian woman and her family, adults and youth, and also the efforts of our children in all directions, the brave armed forces and civil police, and all the heroes of the comprehensive health care system spread throughout Egypt.”

The Egyptian Health Ministry said on Thursday 39 new coronavirus cases were detected, all of them are Egyptians, who were in contact with other positive cases.

“This upped the total number of confirmed cases to 495,” Khaled Megahed, the ministry’s spokesman said in a statement.

Three more deaths were confirmed; raising the total number to 24.

The new fatalities were a 60-year-old woman, a 70-year-old man, and a 78-year-old man. All of them are from Cairo governorate.

“Up to 102 coronavirus patients have totally recovered so far,” the spokesman said.

Egypt has recently taken strict precautionary measures to contain the spread of COVID-19, including temporary closure of schools, universities, museums and archeological sites, reducing employees and sterilizing means of transport, government offices and tourist attractions.

Moreover, the Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouli further announced ion Tuesday a partial curfew nationwide from 7:00 evening to 6:00 morning and a complete shutdown of all entertainment places for the coming two weeks.
