President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Tuesday an International Monetary Fund’s candidate and Guinean Foreign Minister Mamadi Touré. The Egyptian president held bilateral talks with the two officials on African issues, economic reforms and fight terrorism.
A verbal message from Guinean president Alpha Condé on bilateral relations was conveyed to Sisi during the meeting with the FM.
Sixth Session of Joint Egyptian-Guinean Committee
The president hailed the convocation of the sixth session of the joint Egyptian-Guinean committee from September 1-3 in Cairo and the signing of a number of agreements in the fields of electricity, water resources, maritime transport, environment and antiquities.
The meeting also took up Egypt’s main priorities for the sustainable development goals in Africa under President Sisi’s current chairmanship of the African Union (AU), especially those set forth in the AU Agenda 2063 and the Programme for Infrastructure Development in Africa (PIDA).
These goals were discussed during the sessions of the last G20 and TICAD summits in Japan and the G7 summit in France, Sisi said during the meeting with Touré.
Sisi , World Bank CEO Meeting
The Egyptian president and World Bank CEO Kristalina Georgieva discussed future relations between the international institution and Egypt, Africa and developing countries, according to presidency spokesperson.
“President Sisi welcomed the World Bank CEO in the presence of Central Bank of Egypt’s Governor Tarek Amer and Investment and International Cooperation Minister Sahar Nasr,” said Bassam Rady.
Rady added that the president stressed Egypt’s keenness to continuous consultations with the international fund’s officials for the sake of boosting cooperation means.
“Sisi assured that Georgieva’s eager to visit Egypt currently reflects her interest in Egypt and African continent,” the spokesman noted.
It’s noteworthy that Georgieva is nominated to head the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
On her part, the World Bank official praised what she called “fruitful cooperation” with between the international institution and Egypt.
