President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi emphasized to Børge Brende, President of the World Economic Forum, the importance of joint cooperation and encouraging foreign private sector investment in priority sectors in Egypt. These include industry, sustainable energy, communications, digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and transportation.
This came during a meeting today between President El-Sisi and Børge Brende, accompanied by a delegation, in the presence of Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Planning and Economic Development Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, and Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Eng. Hassan El-Khatib.
The official spokesperson for the Presidency stated that the President discussed Egypt's developmental efforts, highlighting major projects in infrastructure, industry, and agriculture, which offer significant investment opportunities.
In this context, the President of the World Economic Forum praised the substantial steps Egypt has taken in economic reform and attracting investments. He expressed the Forum's interest in shedding light on Egypt’s successful experience in this field.
The meeting also addressed regional developments, during which the President presented his vision for achieving peace and stability in the Middle East. He highlighted the negative repercussions of ongoing conflicts in Gaza and Lebanon, and the risks and consequences of escalation, particularly on global economic conditions and the aspirations of the region's people for development and prosperity. In this regard, the importance of an immediate ceasefire was underscored, along with the necessity of initiating a political process that would result in the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, as the cornerstone for restoring stability to the region and advancing development efforts.
