Sisi, Slovenian National Assembly Discuss Bilateral Ties, Gaza Crisis

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received, on Thursday, Urška Klakočar Zupančič, President of Slovenia National Assembly, in the presence of Dr. Hanafy El-Gebaly, Parliament Speaker.

The meeting focused on ways to strengthen cooperation between Egypt and Slovenia.

President Sisi praised the notable progress in bilateral relations in recent years, highlighting the pivotal role played by parliamentary institutions in both countries in supporting this cooperation, especially in economic, trade, and investment sectors, to foster stronger connections between the two friendly nations.

Furthermore, the meeting also addressed regional developments.

The Slovenian Parliament Speaker listened to President Sisi’s perspective on Egypt’s efforts to restore the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, facilitate the exchange of hostages and detainees, and ensure the delivery of sufficient humanitarian aid to address the severe humanitarian crisis in the region.

In this context, Zupančič expressed her country’s appreciation and support for Egypt’s position, stressing Slovenia’s rejection of any forced displacement of Palestinians from their land.

In turn, President Sisi praised Slovenia’s supportive stance on Palestinian rights, particularly Slovenia’s official recognition of the State of Palestine.

He reaffirmed that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital, is the only guarantee for achieving lasting peace and stability in the region.
