President Abdel Fattah El Sisi witnessed Saturday the signing ceremony of the contract with the international company "Siemens", to establish an integrated system for the fast electric train in Egypt, with a total of 3 lines with a length of about 2000 km across the country.
"German Chancellor Olaf Schulz is keen to make a recorded speech on this occasion, stressing the importance of the strong partnership relations between Egypt and Germany," said Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
Schulz also praised the Egyptian strategic decision to rely on fast trains for the transportation of citizens and the movement of goods, which will enhance Egypt's position and its commercial position regionally and globally and make it a pioneer in cutting-edge rail technology in the Middle East and the African continent.
On his part, Sisi affirmed that the new electric rail network comes as a consolidation of fruitful cooperation between Egypt and Germany in the field of infrastructure, and will represent a great addition to the transport system, marking the beginning of a new era for railways in Egypt, Africa and the Middle East.
Moreover, the Chairman of the International Siemens Company expresses his pride in the fruitful cooperation with Egypt in the development projects that made an honorable history for the company in the region and the world, pointing out that the high-speed electric train project in Egypt is the largest in the history of Siemens since its establishment 175 years ago.
