Sisi Reviews Progress of Mega Development Projects in Sinai, Toshka

On Tuesday, Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting with Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly, to review the executive steps being taken for the implementation of development projects in Sinai, Sharq El Owainat and Toshka, according to Presidency spokesman, Bassam Rady.

The meeting was attended by Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Mohamed Shaker, Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Communities, Assem Al-Jazzar, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Al-Sayed Al-Qusayr and Major General Salah Al-Din Nasser, Assistant Director General of National Service Projects Organization.

Sisi was also briefed on progress of the national mega development projects. He ordered to accelerate the implementation rates and integrate work mechanisms among all concerned sectors, in pursuit of achieving the desired strategic goal of increasing the urban and agricultural areas, establishing new societies, and providing job opportunities nationwide.

The Spokesman added that the President also touched on the workflow of some projects being implemented by the Ministries of Electricity, Housing and Agriculture, such as the electrical linkage with neighboring countries.

Sisi also reviewed the executive position of the various presidential initiatives to build largest possible number of housing units nationwide within the framework of the state’s general strategy to provide decent housing for citizens and end the informal settlements.

During the meeting, Sisi ordered to expand the application and dissemination of a modern irrigation system for agricultural lands nationwide, which is a vital component in the state’s strategy to rationalize water usage.

He also instructed raising the efficiency of canals to reduce surplus, developing projects for desalination plants and sewage treatment plants, reduce water-intensive crop areas and spread awareness among farmers regarding sustainable water use.
