Sisi Receives UN High Commissioner for Refugees to Discuss Co-op

​President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received, on Thursday, Barham Salih, United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, alongside Dr. Hanan Hamdan, the UNHCR Representative to the Arab Republic of Egypt and the League of Arab States.

Also in attendance were Rema Jamous Imseis, the UNHCR Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, and Ruiz Gar de, the Special Assistant to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.

​Mohamed El-Shenawy, Official Presidential Spokesperson, stated that President Sisi welcomed the High Commissioner to Egypt, congratulating him on assuming his new position at the beginning of this year.

Moreover, Sisi emphasized Egypt's pride in its ongoing cooperation with the UNHCR in providing international protection for refugees and asylum seekers residing in Egypt, as well as managing the asylum process in accordance with the national law regulating this matter.

Furthermore, he stressed Egypt's readiness to continue this cooperation in a manner that enhances international solidarity and supports refugees.
