President Abdel Fattah El Sisi was convened with the prime minister and the ministers of planning, monitoring and administrative reform and transport.
The meeting reviewed the status of the Ministry of Transport's projects, mainly upgrading the railway network as well as metro projects.
Sisi stressed the importance of focusing efforts to comprehensively improve transportation in Egypt and enhance the capacity of this vital sector, in light of its direct impact on the citizens' daily lives.

Moreover, President Sisi emphasized the importance of finalizing contracts with international companies that will supply new trains and tractors to improve the railway services.
"The president called for completing the implementation of the new administrative capital monorail to connect it to New Cairo, 6 October City and other Cairo suburbs," said Presidential Spokesman Bassam Rady. "…In addition to starting the implementation of the high-speed train, which will link the cities of Al - Alamein and Ain Sokhna."
Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir reviewed the status of the current projects carried out by the ministry as well as the current measures and future plans to upgrade the railway administrative and operation systems to enhance safety and security standards.
Wazir also discussed developments pertinent to upgrading the Metro Line 1 as well as implementing the first phase of Line 4 that is 42 km long and includes 40 stations connecting west and east Cairo.
In the same regard, Sisi met with the CEO of Progress Rail Locomotives (PRL) as well as a number of senior executives from the company.

The president applauded the current cooperation between the government and PRL and noted that the state seeks to upgrade and raise the capacity of the transport system in Egypt to be on par with international standards.
"President Sisi stressed giving top priority to maintaining the standards of safety and security measures and ensuring the provision of integrated services to the citizens," Rady noted.
