Sisi Reaffirms Egypt's Unwavering Support for Somalia’s Sovereignty, Territorial Integrity

President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received, on Sunday, his Somali counterpart, Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.

​Mohamed El-Shennawy, Official Presidential spokesperson stated that the reception ceremony included an honor guard salute and the playing of the national anthems of both countries.

This was followed by a commemorative photo of the two leaders, a bilateral meeting, and expanded discussions involving delegations from both nations, before President Sisi hosted a luncheon in honor of the Somali President and his accompanying delegation.

​Moreover, Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s steadfast position in support of Somalia’s unity, security, and territorial integrity. He emphasized Egypt's rejection of any measures that would undermine the stability or sovereignty of the Somali state, warning against steps taken at the expense of national security and sovereignty, which constitute a violation of the UN Charter.

​For his part, Somali President expressed his pleasure in visiting Egypt and meeting President El-Sisi, praising the fraternal relations between the two countries.

He also voiced his appreciation for Egypt’s support for Somalia’s unity and stability, as well as its efforts to bolster security in the Middle East and the Horn of Africa, affirming Somalia's commitment to enhancing coordination with Egypt to serve regional security.

​The Spokesperson added that the discussions also tackled ways to develop bilateral relations.

In thsi regard, Sisi stressed the importance of activating the Strategic Partnership Declaration signed in January 2025.

They explored cooperation opportunities in trade, development, education, and capacity building, alongside Egypt’s readiness to provide support through the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD).

Furthermore, the two sides discussed cooperation in security and military fields, particularly in counter-terrorism, by leveraging Egyptian expertise and capabilities.

​Regarding regional developments, there was a consensus on the necessity of settling disputes through peaceful means and the importance of stabilizing the region, especially in the Horn of Africa, by preserving national state institutions and safeguarding the resources of its peoples, in addition to enhancing maritime security.

​Following the talks, both Presidents held a joint press conference. President El-Sisi began his speech by saying: "My brother, His Excellency President Dr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud... I am pleased to welcome you as a dear guest in your second home, Egypt. I express my appreciation for the increasing pace of high-level visits between our countries, which reflects the depth of our historical ties and fraternal bonds, embodied in the Strategic Partnership announced during your visit to Cairo in January 2025."

​Moreover, Sisi emphasized that this momentum reflects a mutual desire to elevate bilateral relations and enhance coordination to support stability in the Horn of Africa while ensuring that Egypt’s national security perimeters remain untouched.

He added: "On the occasion of Your Excellency’s visit, I wish to reiterate Egypt’s firm stance supporting the unity and territorial integrity of brotherly Somalia. We categorically reject any measures that compromise this unity, including the recognition of independence for any part of its territory, which constitutes a flagrant violation of the UN Charter and international law, and a dangerous precedent threatening the stability of the entire Horn of Africa."
