President Abdel Fattah El Sisi met Saturday with Khaled El-Anany, Minister of Tourism and Antiquities and discussed "the activities and projects of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities," according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
Anany presented the position of the current tourism turnout, and the measures taken by the government to promote Egyptian tourist destinations in order to exploit the unique and perse elements that Egypt possesses.
He also pointed out the continuous coordination between various ministries and relevant authorities to ensure the recovery of the tourism sector amidst the rapid repercussions of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
Anany stressed that the recent launch of the direct flight line between the cities of Luxor and Sharm El Sheikh aims to link archaeological tourism with the beach.
On his part, Sisi asked to enhance the number of medical crews at the airports of tourist cities to conduct medical smears to detect covid-19 for foreign tourists.
He also urged for continuing coordination and integration between all concerned agencies to ensure the smooth movement of tourism and the comfort of tourists and to provide them with the best services.
The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities also reviewed the executive position of a number of the imminent openings of archaeological projects nationwide, and the preparation for organizing the major promotional event for Luxor Governorate, within the framework of the celebration of the discovery of the "Road of Rams".
President Sisi manifested that this celebration is a continuation of the approach of global events organized by the state to promote Egypt's soft power and ancient civilization, most notably the procession of royal mummies, in a way that internationally reflects the richness of Luxor Governorate as an integrated global tourist destination.
“The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities also presented the efforts to develop the ministry's resources, as well as the measures taken by the ministry for comprehensive administrative modernization through the adoption of digital transformation programs, especially with regard to the digitization of licenses for tourism and hotel establishments, as well as the services provided to visitors and tourists,” Rady said.
Moreover, Anany tackled the international activities of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, including participation in international tourism exhibitions, in addition to his recent visit to the headquarters of UNESCO and his meeting with officials led by the Director-General of the Organization, and presented the state's efforts in the file of antiquities and museums.
