On Tuesday, President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul-Rahman Al-Thani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, and discussed boosting bilateral relations between Cairo and Doha.
The meeting included Sameh Shoukry, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Major General Abbas Kamel, Head of General Intelligence, in addition to Ali bin Ahmed Al-Kuri, Minister of Finance of Qatar, Abdullah Al-Khulaifi Head of Qatar’s State Security Apparatus, and Salem bin Mubarak Al Shafi, Qatar’s Ambassador to Cairo.
“Sisi welcomed the visit of the Qatari Foreign Minister to Cairo, asking him to convey his greetings to his brother, His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Emir of the State of Qatar,” said Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
The president also hailed the tangible progress in the course of Egyptian-Qatari relations, which would serve the goals and interests of the two states and two peoples, and strengthen efforts to maintain security and stability in the Arab region.
On his part, the Qatari foreign minister expressed his honor to meet the president, conveying to Sisi the greetings of His Highness and his keenness to consolidate the close brotherly relations between the two countries in a way that enhances security and stability in the region.
Al-Thani lauded the efforts of Sisi to advance joint Arab action and preserve peace and security at the regional level during the current delicate stage in which challenges are growing.
The meeting dealt with ways to enhance bilateral relations at various levels and the latest developments in the regional situation and issues of common concern.
In this regard, Sisi stressed the link between Gulf security and Egyptian national security, praising the important role played by the State of Qatar in combating the challenges facing the Arab nation.
Moreover, the Qatari foreign minister hailed Egypt’s pivotal role in the region as a fundamental pillar for the security and stability of the Arab world, underscoring Egypt’s keenness to strengthen solidarity among Arab countries and push forward joint Arab action.
