President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin will participate tomorrow, Wednesday, via video conference, in a historic event marking the installation of the reactor pressure vessel (RPV) for the first nuclear power unit, in addition to the signing of the nuclear fuel procurement order.
This is a pivotal step that adds to the progress of the completion of the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) project.
Ambassador Mohamed Elshinawey, Official Spokesperson for the Presidency of the Republic, stated that the execution of this event coincides with Egypt's celebration of the Fifth Annual Nuclear Energy Day, which is organized by Egypt every year on November 19th.
He added that this day commemorates the signing of the intergovernmental agreement between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the Russian Federation for the construction and operation of the El Dabaa NPP, and is considered a symbolic day for the launch of Egypt's peaceful nuclear program.
Furthermore, the Official Spokesperson explained that the participation of President Sisi and his Russian counterpart in this important event reflects the depth of the strategic relations between the two countries and represents an extension of the fruitful bilateral cooperation track through giant projects that have left clear imprints on the development path, starting with the construction of the High Dam in the 1960s, up to the national project for the construction of the El Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant.
The Official Spokesperson also noted that President El-Sisi is scheduled to deliver a speech on this occasion.
