President Abdel Fattah El Sisi spoke by phone on Wednesday with Russian President, Vladimir Putin, and discussed the latest developments of the Ukrainian crisis, according to Presidency Spokesperson Bassam Rady.
"During the phone call, the two Presidents discussed and exchanged views regarding the latest developments in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis."
Sisi emphasized the need for dialogue to pre-dominate, stressing Egypt’s position in support of all diplomatic endeavors that shall expedite reaching a political settlement to the conflict in order to curb the deterioration of the situation and maintain international security and stability.
In this regard, the President affirmed Egypt’s preparedness to support this orientation through its relentless action in this regard, both at the bilateral as well as multilateral levels.
Moreover, he said that Egypt follows with great concern the successive field developments, reiterating that Egypt places utmost priority on the safety and security of the Egyptian citizens in Ukraine.
Sisi expressed appreciation for measures taken by Russia to facilitate the departure of Egyptian citizens and to receive the assistance possible to ensure their safety and security.
They tackled ways to enhance the various frameworks of the strategic cooperation between the two countries, through their joint developmental projects are currently underway.
The two sides also underscored the strength of the historic and robust cooperation relations between Egypt and Russia in various fields, in addition to the friendship between the two countries at both the official and popular levels.
