On Tuesday, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi directed the finance ministry to raise the monthly minimum wages of civil servants to EGP 2,700 from EGP 2,400.
During his meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Finance Minister Mohamed Maait, El-Sisi also issued a directive to appoint 30,000 teachers annually for five years to meet the needs of the education sector.
In addition, the president issued directives to add two bonuses to a cost of about EGP 8 billion for the country’s civil servants. The first of which is a periodic bonus estimated at 7% of the basic salary for employees addressed by the civil service law, and the second is a special bonus estimated at 13 % of the basic salary for workers who are not addressed by the civil service law.
